History of Candlemas

DO YOU KNOW WHY THE STREETS OF MARSEILLE ARE FILLED WITH THE SCENT OF ORANGE BLOSSOM AT CHANDELEUR?????
In France, 2 February is the day to feast on crêpes.
But in Marseille, it's also the day when navettes are made, tasty orange blossom-flavoured biscuits in the shape of a boat.
The origin of this tradition is linked to several legends.
The first is linked to the 13th century, when a wooden statue of the Virgin Mary washed up on the shores of the Old Port; the people of Marseille saw this as a sign of protection.
The second legend explains that the shape of the shuttle symbolises the boat that brought the Saintes Maries to the coast of Provence.
A third legend associates the shuttle with the symbol of fertility.
